Reiki and Bridgwater!

In recent months I started running my clinics in a beautiful new space in Bridgwater, Somerset. Such a gorgeous old building based in the town centre, high ceilings and big windows! Creating accessibility for my existing clients was really important to me - I've been busy working on establishing this practise and introducing new faces to my work! (in amongst juggling home life with the children and the other love of my life working for the NHS). One of the most notable things from the many sessions I've conducted with clients of all ages is the overwhelming sense of feeling rested immediately after the session. Often sitting up with a big stretch and a sleepy surprised expression. "I didn't expect that" or "Wow!" It's so rewarding! Whether clients are bereaved, stressed or exhausted, offering space that is created with soft, gentle and restful experiences is part of the vision! Reiki is incredible, I struggle to put into words all the reasons why. But let's look at the simplest and most beautiful side effect of my sessions! Rest, recoup and restorative practise. Not a single person has left my room feeling anything less than wonderful, I feel so very proud of this 😊 I know I bang on about it, but there are no negative side effects, you can't have too much and it's not time intensive. I think half of the battle is getting people to understand they don't need to be afraid of it - whilst Reiki is relatively new ( hundreds of years ) the Chakra systems are not - it's not a fad, its a longline of history surrounding the human body and how it interacts! How we describe storing a memory? What does it look like in the body? Really! What is that? How would you describe your 'gut feeling'what does this look like and what is it made of? Hmm, let's get those cogs turning and thinking about energy in the body. What is energy? Can we see it, touch it and move it? What happens when we catch a ball?We disrupt the energy! We absorb the energy! How many types of energy can you think of? The concept of energy in my opinion just needs a little more explaining so that people understand that it's not a sinister or strange practise, rather than a part of the world and our place in it. If you're reading this and have had a revelation I'd love to hear it - as always I invite questions and comments! Love always, Rapunzel

Spiritual Buzzwords

Dear reader, its that time again where I blessyour socials with another rambling! This time- it's the buzzword culture I'm here to call out. Who even created the word buzzword?! Now firstly, full disclosure- I love seeing people talking about doing their inner work, moving through trauma and getting to know themselves in a deeper sense of the meaning. It's a controversial standpoint to some to acknowledge that we are simply more than skin and bone beings - connected to our world in ways many often never acknowledge - often part of the work we need to do is based around connection! I feel both delighted and disappointed that it has become commercialised- crystal subscription boxes? 'Spiritual signage for the bathroom wall! and High Street retailers calling on the clothing ranges for those who are spirituallly enlightened to go with their chakra bracelets. 'Healing' is seemingly being used as a selling point for the masses of vulnerable people looking for more, better - which ever the angle. It doesn't have to cost you anything to become more enlightened/healed/connected. Nothing atall. Just a commitment to look inside, have honest conversations with yourself and others and an intention to live authentically with love at the centre of course. Love doesn't cost a thing and neither does honesty. So honestly, save the subscription (I know we all love things coming in the post; dopamine addicts that we are!) Using the right hashtags or buzzwords won't make a difference to your worthiness of 'Healing Status'. Save the signage on your wall, we live laughed and loved the old ones until we didn't- the next thing will roll around and you'll have to buy another! We also don't need to fit in - dare I say it! Your JOURNEY will be vastly different to anyone else's , although that doesn't mean we won't be able to relate. I guess I want to say, don't worry about it  - don't worry about the organic essential oils, Amethyst geodes or woke slogans. Don't worry about showing everyone else just how much nature you're getting! You're okay as you are, you're doing great. Buzzwords aside, working through your 'stuff' and re-learning/unlearning is a tricky process - it's great to find a facilitator who you connect with to help along the way ( it's not essential but it can prove invaluable ) there's also lots of information online, podcasts and blog posts alike, whichever way you prefer to get your information - it is available. I wonder if the buzzwords become more about following trends than the words themselves - in this never ending ratrace to be just like everyone else, and we don't need to be - we need to be ourselves. Amazing Reiki!

Dear Reader.. lets talk Reiki .. This is a funny one.. some people almost recoil and ask 'What is that?' Others excitedly tell me, 'Oh I love Reiki!' I get it.. 3 years ago I'd never experienced Reiki myself - infact when it was mentioned I thought it was a type of massage. I know I have a short write up on here.. but that's because the experience of Reiki sessions are different for every individual. I think the three important messages I'd really like to get across is that - 1. Everyone leaves feeling better than when they arrived. 2. It's suitable for everyone 3. It's not magic..  but it what it can do is! Let me explain.. I often use Reiki in my hypnotherapy sessions - this is because it's a useful and enjoyable starting point in our sessions when I would like to enable each person to start relaxing.  It helps me to get a sense of what is going on with them on a physical, emotional and spiritual level. It has truly enhanced the results for my wonderful clients, because I connect with them energetically and i have more information not to mention the actual benefits! I've watched so many flourish and adore the process.. no gimmicks.. just old- school eastern techniques. Imagine an hour of stillness.. quiet time.. relaxing music and a treatment which will work to balance, restore, energise, heal, detoxify and relax.. in a warm and comfortable therapy space. The only thing you have to do is lay on the therapy bed.. no special equipment or clothing required.  It's all about your comfort. The wonderful thing about holistic and alternative therapies is that people can trust these practises - they have withstood the test of the time and the Internet means you can access testimonials and information at the click of a button. Client testimonials will tell you everything you need to know and what's lovely is that each story is so different, yet Reiki was able to help them all - the saying goes.. 'for the greatest good' and this is it.. in this work everything I do is for the greatest good, the greatest intention. Reiki holds a special place in my heart and I adore it for everything it has done for those special humans who came to see me for help.. Ask and you shall receive! Love Rapunzel

That's a Wrap!

Hello beautiful human, Oh it's been a learning curve this year, a particular focus has been around endings! It seems to be a reoccurring theme.. the universe works in wonderful ways and seems to bring lessons where we need them the most. We experience endings all the time for a multitude of reasons, sometimes these can be hard hitting and impactful - others barely noticed. Add emotions into the bag and it's often a recipe for more difficult ending. What springs to mind as you read that? We all have endings we found difficult, bereavement for example has no timelines. Relationships ending or perhaps even redundancy can carry so much more than the initial sadness or even anger behind an ending. The way we respond to this and the needs we have in order to process the end can look very different depending on your personality type, your environment growing up, your wellbeing at the time of the ending and support networks to name a few. I've found the world of psychology so fascinating looking at relationship dynamics and patterns along with neurodiversity. Working with divergent individuals has been insightful, special and rewarding. I have delved into many a podcast, study and have had incredible conversations with people .. with a few light bulb moments along the way. These moments stick with me and I often think about how poignant this can be in a lifetime. I recognise how simple statements and realisations can be totally healing, freeing and beautiful as they are discovered. What can I say, this work is a true treasure in my life and I'm so excited about the year ahead. I'll be appearing at a few events across the year to offer some healing sessions.. check out the socials for updates on this one and I'll be aiming for a monthly blog post to check in and showcase some of the work I've been doing. As always I am so grateful for you taking the time to read my postings and invite you to ask questions as they come to mind.. Here's to another year of growth, opportunity and theraputic magic! Winter Reflection

Hello reader, it's time to share! Reflecting on the last year, I can honestly say I have learnt so much from the wonderful working relationships I have had - each and every client has taught me something new! Here's some of my reflections! It's unnerving trusting a stranger with your inner thoughts, feelings and experiences. Something I feel very honoured to provide is an environment where people feel like this is easy to do. It's not a conscious thing - as much as I'd like to take the credit! I'm bowled away by the bravery and vulnerability of the individuals I have worked with. A constant reminder of how amazing humans are! It's a work in progress with everything..  we are always making moves and taking steps towards goals even when we dont realise it. Its in the little things and the continuous commitment to make descisions which reflect that. We cannot change if we do not want to. If we experience resistance to change It's really helpful to look inwards and try to better understand why that is, something I have often helped clients with. Once you have this information.. then you can decide if you're ready for changes. Healing is both conscious and unconscious.  You do have to lead the way. We are not all broken. We all have behaviours or patterns as a result of our collective experiences - personality traits and perhaps quirks that people remember us for. I really want to put across the idea that you don't need to remove everything or work on everything..  and you're not something unfixable or too far gone.
